The Jets released running back Michael Carter on Tuesday. The 24-year-old has 1,089 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in 39 career games. He also has 92 receptions for 681 yards.
Carter is subject to waivers and the Bengals should consider claiming him. He would give them another option at running back alongside Joe Mixon, Trayveon Williams and Chris Evans.
He has experience play on third down and was the odd man out in a backfield that includes Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook.

Carter’s best season was in 2021 when he finished with 639 rushing yards and 325 receiving yards as a rookie. If the Bengals did acquire Carter, they would also take on the final year of his rookie contract, which includes a $1.1 million cap hit.
