Tom Brady Names Toughest Super Bowl Loss Of His Career

Tom Brady played in a lot of Super Bowls over the course of his career, winning seven of them – six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He lost some, too. Brady played in 10 Super Bowls, winning seven of them and losing three. Which of the losses was the hardest, though?

That’s easy. New England’s 17-14 loss to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII. The Patriots came into that game undefeated, looking like the greatest team of all-time, before losing to Eli Manning and Co. Brady explained on “The Dynasty” that he didn’t sleep for days following that loss.

“We were crushed,” Brady said on Apple TV’s documentary. “I was crushed. That was our history-making game. That would have been everything. … We were as devastated as you could be.”

“There was no sleep. There was no sleep for a long time.” Patriots owner Robert Kraft said he had never seen players react like they reacted following that loss.

“I’m watching guys throw up and cry on the floor,” Kraft said. “I’ve never seen that. I’ve never, ever, seen that.” The Giants would topple the Patriots in another Super Bowl a couple of years later. Episodes of “The Dynasty” are airing on Apple TV-plus.
