Shohei Ohtani Gets Incredible Praise From Former Angels Teammate

The Los Angeles Dodgers not only landed the biggest star in the sport this offseason, but also one of the most selfless players in Shohei Ohtani.

Everyone is familiar with Ohtani and his capabilities on the diamond, but his former teammate for the past five years, ex-Angel’ first baseman and outfielder Jared Walsh, had some high praise for the two-way superstar.

In Walsh’s appearance on MLB Network Radio, he praised Ohtani’s work ethic and selflessness, which he got to witness on a first-hand basis over the last five years.

“If you look at his body from 2019 and ’20 to ’21, he really souped up his nutrition, the weight training, all of that. I think he deserves every penny,” Walsh said.

“The hardest-working guy I’ve ever been around and a great teammate. A lot of people say this, but for him, I don’t think it’s about the money, I think the contract reflects it with how much money he deferred. He’s really a modest, down-to-earth person for being one of the biggest stars in the world. So I wish him nothing but the best, and I’m looking forward to seeing him play with the Dodgers.”

Ohtani is the ultimate winner and competitor. He’s not great by accident, and in his short time as a Dodger, he’s displayed that incredible work ethic and determination to be great.

Ohtani has repeatedly said that he came to this top-notch organization to win. It’s the only thing that matters to the 29-year-old and the only thing that matters to Dodger fans and the organization.

The mission is clear, and Ohtani is the right leader to take L.A. to the Promised Land for title No. 8, and potentially even more.
