Ravens' TE gets huge injury update ahead of playoff game vs. Texans

Could Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews return for the team’s upcoming playoff game against the Houston Texans? The latest update suggests that it is a realistic possibility.

Andrews was reportedly a full participant at practice on Wednesday, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. “Ravens practicing report DNP: Clowney (illness); Humphrey (calf); Phillips (shoulder); Wallace (knee).

“Full: Andrews (ankle); Duvernay (back); Flowers (calf); Harrison (groin); Oweh (ankle),” Zrebiec wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Andrews was expected to miss the season after suffering his ankle injury in November. However, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh later said that an Andrews return was a possibility.

Andrews comments on potential return for Ravens-Texans game

Andrews addressed his status Wednesday ahead of Saturday’s Ravens-Texans playoff clash. “It’s how I feel,” Andrews responded when asked the deciding factor for his availability will be, via Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Banner.

“Just knowing how good this team is, how good our players are, how good our tight ends are… If I feel like I’m going to be helpful to the team, I’m gonna go.”

“If I feel like I’m close but not there, gonna let these guys go and hopefully get back next weekend.” The Ravens were able to still earn a bye in the playoffs amid Andrews’ injury absence. But there is no question that Baltimore is a better team when he is on the field.

Andrews was on his way to another superb season before suffering the ankle injury in November. He had recorded 544 yards and six touchdowns through just 10 games.

For now, based on Andrews’ comments, it appears that his status won’t be announced until Saturday. Of course, there is a chance that his availability is made official before that. The fact that Andrews was a full participant on Wednesday is an encouraging sign to say the least.
