Potential Reds Trade for Pitcher Appears Unlikely with Dodgers Closing in on Ace

Just days after signing Shohei Ohtani to a record-setting 10-year, $700 million contract, the Dodgers have their eyes on Rays ace Tyler Glasnow.

They’re discussing a trade involving Glasnow and outfielder Manuel Margot according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

The deal isn’t complete, but Rosenthal named players that could be sent to Tampa Bay in the deal. The financial aspect of this trade will be interesting too, assuming it’s completed.

Glasnow posted a 3.53 ERA for the Rays in 121 innings last season, making 21 starts. It’s the only time in his career that he’s started at least 20 games in a season.

The Reds are one of many teams that have checked in on what it would cost to trade for the talented 30-year-old.

Glasnow is set to make $25 million this season, before becoming a free agent. The Reds are probably hoping to land a more durable [and affordable] starting pitcher in free agency or via trade.
