Dodgers Reported Shortstop Trade Target Will not be Moved this Offseason

The Los Angeles Dodgers seem to be in on every All-Star/ superstar this league has to offer. Every offseason, it feels as if they are rumored to get anyone they desire. That isn’t the case in some instances, but it feels like they have a chance more often than not.

LA is looking to make some serious noise this offseason, and their top priority, like many others, is to sign two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani. However, there are other moves the Dodgers can make to better their team without adding the best player in the league.

The Boys in Blue were rumored to be in on All-Star shortstop from the Toronto Blue Jays, Bo Bichette. However, Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins shut down the rumors that they’ll move on from the 25-year-old.

It seems like the door is closed on Bichette to the Dodgers, but weirder things have happened in this league.

Nonetheless, if what Atkins says is true, the Dodgers won’t be able to add a two-time All-Star who is only 25 years old and is coming off a career year. Bichette earned another All-Star bid in 2023, where we slashed .306/.339/.475 with a .814 OPS and tallied 20 home runs and 73 RBIs in 135 games.

The Florida native is a fine, young player, but it’s not the end of the world if LA doesn’t get Bichette. There are other players out there whom LA can target to better their infield. Adding another elite infielder would be a cherry on top for the Dodgers; it’s not necessary, but it’ll be a luxury.

Dodgers young stud Gavin Lux should be ready for the 2024 season, meaning he will be fully thrust into the shortstop role. LA will be OK without Bo; however, it would always be nice to add another All-Star.
