Bengals Make Flurry of Roster Moves Ahead of Matchup with Steelers

The Cincinnati Bengals have made multiple roster moves leading up to their Week 16 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Defensive tackle Domenique Davis has been signed to the active roster from the practice squad. In addition, wide receiver Shedrick Jackson and cornerback Sidney Jones IV have been elevated off the practice squad for Saturday’s game.

Davis, an undrafted free agent following the 2020 NFL Draft, has been with the Bengals since the 2022 offseason. He spent the 2022 season on the practice squad and has done the same this year up until Friday afternoon.

Davis made a solid case to make the initial 53-man roster this year. He racked up nine pressures and a sack in three preseason games for Cincinnati in August, but he was ultimately waived during the roster cutdown period.

With DJ Reader out for the year, the Bengals need as much depth at defensive tackle as possible. They claimed Travis Bell off waivers earlier this week as well. Davis getting signed to the roster signals that they will have him playing instead of Bell on Saturday.

Injuries at wide receiver and cornerback also explain why Jackson and Jones are suiting up in Pittsburgh. Jackson has been elevated once before this season when Tee Higgins was out, now he’ll be active again with Ja’Marr Chase sidelined. Jones will take the spot of DJ Ivey, who suffered a season-ending knee injury last week.
